Local Vhisc installation procedures for Win7

Connecting Windows 7 32(not 64 ! )bit computer to a smart cabinet (KWIII)
(This article is an extension for the full install procedure)

  1. Download and install Perl
    Download and install ActivePerl 5 at http://www.activestate.com/activeperl/downloads, preferably at C:/program files/Perl
    Verify the installation by checking the existence of the new Perl directory, some Win versions may prohibit install in some directories.
  2. Download and install Perl Serial Port(guest guest):
    https://www.effect-systems.com/support/keypro/SerialPort.zip (guest guest)
  3. After unzipping the file into a temporary directory, perform the following using command prompt as administrator from the effective directory (cd /Users\USER\Downloads\sadra*\Seri*):
    • perl Makefile.PL
    • perl install.pl

  4. Install Apache

    • Download Apache2.4.4
    • Install the Apache msi file - You will need to answer few questions (usually just use the defaults):

  5. Replace the file C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.4\conf\httpd.conf with the attached httpd.conf file

  6. Extract the cgi-bin/cars folder from Cars.zip (guest guest) file into C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.4\cgi-bin so a new folder, named cars will be created.
  7. edit kw-vars.pl (You probably will need to change the file's permissions by editing its properties)
    Change the com port in C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.4\cgi-bin\cars\kw-vars.pl to the actual com port on the computer you are installing the software (check in control-panel>device manager>com ports).
  8. On the same file change the $domain = parameter to the actual domain name ("www.sadran.net" in most cases)

Tests
  1. Connect the serial cable
  2. Go into command line prompt
  3. Switch to C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.4\cgi-bin\cars\
  4. Run perl kwpc.pl
  5. Error massage like the following will appear:

  6. Run Windows explorer
  7. Goto C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.4\logs and check the file error .log for errors
  8. Run the application and try to open the cabinet
